Description

PCLOOKHELYR indicates whether sample adults looked up health information on the Internet in the past 12 months. For 2009, this information is available for sample adults who had ever looked up such information on the Internet (PCLOOKHELEV). For 2011, PCLOOKHELYR is available for all sample adults.

As part of the Health Information Technology (HIT) supplement, PCLOOKHELYR is one of ten variables on the use of computers to access health information and services. As the 2009 Survey Description points out, the NHIS for that year was the first nationally representative household survey to collect data on the use of the Internet "for health information and medical communication."
