Description
For half of female sample persons aged 18 and over who have ever heard of a Pap smear test and have had a Pap smear in the past 3 years because of a health problem, PAPLYINF reports whether the health problem for her most recent Pap smear was infection.
Related variable PAPYEVINF reports whether female sample persons aged 18 and over who have ever had a Pap smear because of a health problem had that Pap smear because of infection.

Comparability
Apart from changes in the universe, there are no comparability issues. Changes in survey design (e.g., quarters in which the information was collected) may affect raw frequencies, but do not affect comparability of the variable. As always, data users should use the prescribed IHIS weights.
Universe
- 1987: Half of female sample persons age 18+ (excluded from CAEP supplement) who have ever heard of Pap smear test and who had a Pap test in the past 3 years because of a health problem.
- 1992: Half of female sample persons age 18+ in quarters 1 and 2 and in 2 weeks of quarter 3 (excluded from CAEP supplement) who have ever had a Pap smear test, whose most recent exam was in the past 3 years, and whose reason for last exam was because of a specific gynecological problem.
