Description

For sample female adults aged 18 and older who had both ovaries removed (OVECT), OVARYAGE reports the age at which the respondent had both ovaries removed.

OVARYAGE was first introduced in 1999.

Comparability

Changes in the universe may affect comparability over time. In 1999, this question was asked of sample female adults ages 18-49 who are not pregnant and have had both ovaries removed AND sample female adults ages 50 and older who have not had a menstrual period in the past 3 or 12 months or who have never had a menstrual period and have had both ovaries removed. Beginning in 2010, this question was asked of all sample female adults ages 18 and older who have had both ovaries removed. (See Universe Tab for more details.) As a result, researchers should use caution when making comparisons across years.
