Description

For sample persons ages 18 and over who lived with a problem drinker in their first 18 years or who identified another blood relative who was a problem drinker, OTHRELALCEV indicates whether a relative OTHER THAN the person's biological mother, biological father, biological brother, biological sister, half-brother, half-sister, biological son, biological daughter, grandmother, grandfather, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, or cousin was not mentioned as an alcoholic, mentioned as an alcoholic, or mentioned as an alcoholic who lived with the person in their first 18 years. The variable also includes blood relatives whose precise relationship to the person is unknown.

This question is part of the 1988 alcohol use supplement. The person could report relationships for up to five problem drinkers he or she lived with and any additional blood relatives the person did not live with. Please use drop down menus for related variables.
