Description
For sample adults who reported taking a prescription medication in the past 12 months and also have taken any opioids prescribed by a doctor in the past 3 months (OPIOID3MO), OPIOIDCPAIN reports whether the sample person took a prescription opioid in the past 3 months to treat long-term or chronic pain. Examples of long-term or chronic pain include low back pain or neck pain, frequent headaches or migraines, or joint pain or arthritis.

Universe
- 2019-2020: Sample adults age 18+ who reported taking any prescription medication in the past 12 months and who have also taken any opioids prescribed by a doctor in the past 3 months.
