Description

For sample persons under age 18 who have taken four or more medicines in the past two weeks, MED2W4 indicates the fourth type of medicine the child has taken in the previous two weeks. The list of medicines includes: pain relievers, cough medicines, asthma or allergy medicines, medicines for topical steroids, other skin medicines, laxatives or stomach medicines, vitamins or minerals, tranquilizers or sedatives, antibiotics, or other types of medicines.

Related Variables
Respondents are also asked about the main health problem for which the fourth reported medication was used MED2WPROB4, whether or not the doctor had prescribed the fourth reported medication MED2WRX4, whether or not the doctor had recommended the use of the fourth reported medication MED2WDREC4, and the frequency with which the fourth reported medication was taken in the past three months MED2WFREQ4.
