Description
For sample adults, LVISAPTWATNO reports the number of time units waiting between the time the respondent made the appointment and the day he or she actually saw the doctor or other health professional on the last health care visit. LVISAPTWATNO corresponds to the time period given in LVISAPTWATTP.
This variable can be used to monitor the effects of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
Comparability
Beginning in 2012, a new instruction was included in the response category that enters a '96' for routine appointments, appointments made during previous visits, or receipt of an appointment reminder card. Except this, there are no comparability issues.
Universe
2011: Sample adults age 18+ who visited a clinic, doctor's office/HMO, hospital outpatient department, or somewhere else (other than ER or urgent care center) on their last medical visit.
2012-2014: Sample adults aged 18+ years who visited a clinic, doctor's office/HMO, hospital outpatient department or
someplace else (not ER or urgent care center) on their last visit.
