Description

For sample persons age 55 and older in 1984 and age 65 and older in 1986 have difficulty using the toilet and/or getting to the toilet and who use special equipment when using the toilet, LATOILTEQPT2 reports the second type of equipment she/he uses.

Persons report up to two types of equipment used for this activity. To see the second type of equipment used, please refer toLATOILTEQPT1.

This variable was introduced in 1984 as part of the Study on Aging. For related variables, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus.

Comparability

Changes in the universe will reduce comparability over time. In 1984, this question was asked of sample persons age 55 and older and in 1986, it was asked of persons age 65 and older. See the Universe tab for more details.

Universe

  • 1984: Sample persons age 55+ who have difficulty using the toilet and use special equipment to use the toilet.
  • 1986: Persons age 65+ who have difficulty using the toilet and use special equipment to use the toilet.
