Description

For sample persons age 55 and older in 1984 and age 65 and older in 1986, who, due to a health or physical problem, has difficulty eating and reports using special equipment when doing this activity, LAEATEQPT1 reports the first type of equipment she/he uses. See Codes tab for response categories.

Persons could report up to two types of equipment used for this activity. Please use the IPUMS NHIS search function or drop-down menus to find related variables, including additional types of special equipment reported.

Comparability

Changes in survey design (e.g., quarters in which the supplement was collected) may affect raw frequencies, but do not affect comparability of the variable. As always, data users should use the prescribed IHIS weights.
