Description
For sample children under age 18, KIDCRESP is a recoded variable reporting whether or not the sample child has a chronic respiratory condition. Interviewers asked whether the child has ever had any of a number of conditions, and persons could answer "yes" to as many as applied (see KIDC1 for more details). Any child who was reported to have a respiratory-related condition was coded as "mentioned" for KIDCRESP.
KIDCRESP was introduced in 1981 as part of the Child Health Supplement. For related variables, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function or drop-down menus.
