Description
For all persons (prior to 2019) or all sample adults (starting in 2019), INTERVLANG reports the language in which the interview was conducted.
Starting in 2019, the universe no longer includes sample children. Sample children's responses are now a part of the variable INTERVLANGC.
Comparability
The NHIS questionnaire was substantially redesigned in 2019 to introduce a different data collection structure and new content. For more information on changes in terminology, universes, and data collection methods beginning in 2019, please see the user note.

- 1997-2018: All persons.
- 2019-2022: All sample adults.
