Description
For sample adults and children in 2012 who had ever used hypnosis (HYPEV) but had either not seen a practitioner for hypnosis in the past 12 months or had never seen a practitioner for hypnosis, HYPUSEYR reports whether they used hypnosis in the past 12 months.
Hypnosis was one of many alternative health treatment modalities included in the Alternative Health Supplements.

The 2012 Field Representative's Manual defines hypnosis as:
Field representatives were advised to "feel free to offer [this definition] even if the respondent has not requested [it]."
