Description
For sample persons or adults who were ever told they had high blood pressure and who were ever prescribed medicine for high blood pressure, and who are not now taking medicine for high blood pressure, HYPMEDQUIT reports if a doctor advised the person to stop taking the medicine.

Universe
- 1974: Sample persons age 17+ who have ever been told by doctor that they had high blood pressure or hypertension and who were ever prescribed medicine by a doctor for their high blood pressure/hypertension, but who are not now taking prescribed medicine for high blood pressure/hypertension and who did not report "doctor's advice" as the reason for stopping taking the medicine.
- 1985; 1990: Sample persons age 18+ who were ever told they had high blood pressure not related to pregnancy and who were ever prescribed medication for high blood pressure but who are not now taking medication for high blood pressure (or for whom it was unknown whether they were now taking medication for high blood pressure).
- 1998; 2003; 2008: Sample adults age 18+ who were ever told they had high blood pressure not related to pregnancy (or for whom it was unknown whether their high blood pressure was pregnancy-related), and who were ever prescribed prescription medication for their high blood pressure, and who are not now taking medicine for high blood pressure (or for whom it was unknown whether they are now taking such medication).
