Description

For sample adults in 1991 and half of sample adults in quarters 3 and 4 of 1993, who were employed in the past 2 weeks and worked for a private company or the federal, state, or local government, HRSWKMAIN2WK reports the total hours that the sample adult worked in the past two weeks at the main job.

Comparability

Changes in survey design (e.g., quarters in which the supplement was collected) may affect raw frequencies, but do not affect comparability of the variable. As always, data users should use the prescribed IPUMS NHIS weights.

Universe

  • 1991: Sample persons age 18+ employed in the past 2 weeks and work for a private company, federal, state, or local government
  • 1993: Half of sample persons age 18+ in quarters 3 and 4 (excluded from AIDS supplement) employed in the past 2 weeks and work for a private company, federal, state, or local government.
