Description
For sample adults age 18 and over who have been exposed to leisure time noise in the past 12 months, HRLSPROT reports how often the person wore ear protection (ear plugs or ear muffs) when exposed to loud noise or music, outside of work.
HRLSPROT was included in the sample adult core questionnaire; in 2007, a number of questions about hearing, hearing loss, and hearing aid use were included in the core. Please use the IPUMS NHIS drop down menu and search functions for related variables.
