Description
For persons with at least one private insurance plan whose policyholder is on the family roster and whose plan covers someone who lives elsewhere, HIP1POLCOUTN reports the number of persons covered who live outside this household.
The NHIS provides data for the first two private insurance plans reported. Individuals with more than two private plans have a "2" reported for the variable HIPRIVGT2.
This variable can be used to monitor the effects of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
