Description
For persons with a private insurance plan whose policyholder is on the family roster but the plan covers a child or children living outside the household, HIP1KID26OUT reports (for the first plan) the number of children age 26 or older who are covered by the plan.
The NHIS provides data for the first two private insurance plans reported. Individuals with more than two private plans have a "2" reported for the variable HIPRIVGT2.
This variable can be used to monitor the effects of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
