For sample adults who purchased health insurance directly in the past 3 years (HIBUYDIR3Y), HIDENYCOV3Y indicates whether any company turned the respondent down when he or she tried to buy coverage on self.
This variable can be used to monitor the effects of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
