Description

For sample persons whose private insurance plan is paid by themselves or by their family, HI1PREINC reports whether the premium paid for the first plan was based on income.

Detailed questions about private health insurance are looped through for each plan mentioned in a family. Information on up to 4 plans per family is recorded. However, The NHIS only provides data for the first two private insurance plans reported. Therefore, HI1PREINC and HI2PREINC report the same information on the first private plan and the second private plan in a family, respectively.
