For sample persons aged 18 and older, HDFAMHIST reports whether the sample person thinks FAMILY HISTORY OF HEART DISEASES definitely increases, probably increases, probably does not increase, or definitely does not increase a person's chances of getting heart disease.

This variable is part of the Health Promotion Disease Prevention supplement.
