Description
For sample persons, HAVEPCP reports whether the respondent usually saw one particular doctor at the usual place for care.

Comparability
The universe changes across samples, including sample persons under 18 with a usual place of care that is not a doctor's office or private clinic in 1988, and instead including sample persons ages 18 and older with a usual place of care in 1990. The survey question was modified to in 1990 to ask specifically about a particular doctor that the respondent usually saw, rather than the previously used generic term "medical person". . Universe
- 1988: Sample persons under age 18 who have usual place for sick care and the place reported is not doctor's office or private clinic.
- 1990: Sample persons age 18+ who have a regular source of medical care.
