Description
For sample adults and sample children, GUNUSEV reports whether the individual had ever used a gun or firearm for any reason. In 2007, this question was asked to only sample adults.
[show more]Interviewers introduced these questions on firearms by stating, "The next questions are about your current or previous exposure to loud sounds or noises." Interviewers asked, "Have you ever used firearms for any reason?" The survey form directed interviewers to include target shooting, hunting and occupational experiences (military service, etc.). Further, the survey form advised that, "Firearms include pistols, shotguns, rifles, and other types of guns. Do not include BB or pellet guns."

Comparability
