Description
For sample adults who were ever told they have glaucoma, (GLAUCOMAEV), this variable identifies whether persons lost any vision because of the glaucoma. While GLAUCOMAEV is available for 1989 forward, GLAUCOMVLOS is only available for 2008-forward.
The Field Representative's Manual defined glaucoma as "an increase in pressure in the eye which causes damage. If not treated soon enough, glaucoma can destroy side vision, leaving a small area in the center where the person still sees." This definition was not routinely shared with persons.
