Description

For sample persons age 18 and older who ever had gallstones or gallbladder trouble that was medically diagnosed, GBTESTXRAY indicates if she/he ever had an X-ray of his/her gallbladder or abdomen to help diagnose the gallstones or gallbladder condition. Interviewers were instructed to read the following, if necessary: "For this X-ray you would have been given either pills the night before or an intravenous injection just before the X-rays were taken."

This variable is part of the 1989 Digestive Disorders supplement, fielded to provide data on the nature and prevalence of symptoms attributed to disorders of the lower digestive tract in the adult population.
