Description

For sample adults age 18 and older who quit smoking within the past 2 years (QUITTP and QUITNO), and in 2005 through 2015 for sample adults who are also former smokers, FSQPATCH2YR indicates if the person used a nicotine patch to quit smoking completely.

Comparability

This variable is not completely comparable over time. Analysts should refer to the universe tab for changes in the universe across years.

Universe

  • 2005: Sample adults age 18+ who are former smokers and who quit smoking less than or equal to 2 years ago.
  • 2010; 2015: Sample adults 18+ who are former smokers and quit in the last 2 years.
  • 2022: Sample adults 18+ who have quit smoking in the past two years (QUITTP, and QUITNO).
