Description

For sample adults age 18 and older who quit smoking within the past 2 years (QUITTP and QUITNO), and in 2005 through 2015 for sample adults who are also former smokers, FSQMEDS2YR indicates if respondents used a prescription pill, such as Zyban, Buproprion, or Wellbutrin to quit smoking completely.

This variable is not completely comparable over time. Analysts should refer to the universe tab for changes in the universe across years.

Universe

  • 2005: Sample adults age 18+ who are former smokers and who quit smoking less than or equal to 2 years ago.
  • 2010; 2015: Sample adults 18+ who are former smokers and quit in the last 2 years.
  • 2022: Sample adults 18+ who have quit smoking in the past two years (QUITTP, and QUITNO).
