Description

For sample adults age 18 and older who are former smokers, FSQDECREV indicates if the person ever gradually decreased the number of cigarettes she/he smoked in a day when trying to stop smoking. Please see the Universe tab for a detailed description of who was asked this survey question.

Comparability

There are no comparability issues with this variable.

Universe

  • 1992: Half of sample persons age 18+ in quarters 1 and 2 and in 2 weeks of quarter 3 (excluded from CAEP supplement) who have smoked at least 100 cigarettes and either don't smoke at all now OR said they don't smoke at all now but smoke some days, and have not smoked in the past 30 days, OR smoke some days now but haven't smoked in the past 30 days.
