Description

For sample adults age 18 and older who quit smoking within the past 2 years (QUITTP and QUITNO), and in 2005 through 2015 for sample adults who are also former smokers, FSQCOUNSEL2YR indicates whether respondents used one-on-one counseling to quit smoking completely during the past two years.

Comparability

This variable is not completely comparable over time. Analysts should refer to the universe tab for changes in the universe across years.

Universe

  • 2005: Sample adults age 18+ who are former smokers and who quit smoking less than or equal to 2 years ago.
  • 2010; 2015: Sample adults 18+ who are former smokers and quit in the last 2 years.
  • 2022: Sample adults 18+ who have quit smoking in the past two years (QUITTP, and QUITNO).
