Description

For sample persons age 20 and older in 1977, and, in 1979-1980, sample persons age 17 and older who require individual home care, who previously report not needing help using public transportation or for whom it is unknown if she/he needs help using public transportation, FLTRANUSE reports if she/he uses public transportation such as buses, trains, subways, or planes.

Comparability

Changes in survey design (e.g., quarters in which the supplement was collected) may affect raw frequencies, but do not affect comparability of the variable. As always, data users should use the prescribed IPUMS NHIS weights.
