This variable is collected during rostering from a household respondent who answered refuse or don’t know to the age of a household member who is subsequently selected as the Sample Adult, and for whom the household respondent indicated that the person is 18 and over. AGE65 (IPUMS variable name: FLG65) may be inconsistent with AGEP_A (IPUMS variable name: AGE) because AGEP_A is confirmed with the Sample Adult respondent and uses date of birth to verify age. Analysts may use AGE65 when AGEP_A is unknown for categorizing Sample Adults less than age 65 and 65 and over.
