Description

For sample persons age 18 and older, FLCONDSTAT indicates whether or not the person experiences any functional limitations, and if so, whether or not the limitation is due to chronic condition(s). FLCONDSTAT is a recoded variable created using information from previous questions reporting what conditions or health problems cause the sample person to have difficulty with certain activities.

This variable is part of a series of variables related to the difficulty of doing various activities due to a physical/mental condition, the use of help from others to carry on such activities, and the number of years this difficulty has persisted.
