Description

For sample adults in 2008 who fell in the past 12 months (FELYR) or sample adults in 2016 who fell at least once a month in the past 12 months (FELMONTHLYR), FELWHYTRIP indicates whether persons fell because they tripped or stumbled. Earlier in the survey, interviewers told persons that a fall was defined as, "unexpectedly dropping to the floor or ground from a standing, walking or bending position."

The question for this variable occurred as part of the Sample Adult Balance Supplement, sponsored by the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders.
