Description
For sample adults in 2008 who have fallen at least once a month on average during the past 12 months and sample adults in 2016 who have fallen at least once a month in the last 12 months and reported the number of times fell or said that they didn't know to number part of this question, this variable indicates the number of times per day, week, or month the person fell.
See the related variable FELTIMESYRNO for the number of time units associated with the time period given. Earlier in the survey, interviewers told persons that a fall was defined as, "unexpectedly dropping to the floor or ground from a standing, walking or bending position."
The question for this variable occurred as part of the Sample Adult Balance Supplement, sponsored by the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders.
