Description

For sample adults 18 years of age or older who are in the same family and household with other persons who are 10 years of age or older, FAMTALKALC indicates whether the respondent reported discussing health issues related to drinking beer, wine, liquor, and other alcoholic beverages with her/his family members ages 10 or older.

FAMTALKALC is part of the NHIS Prevention Supplement. For related variables and more information, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus.

Comparability

There are no comparability issues. Changes in survey design (e.g., quarters in which the supplement was collected) may affect raw frequencies, but do not affect comparability of the variable. As always, data users should use the prescribed IHIS weights.
