Description

For all persons, FAMRESPFLAG indicates if the person is the family respondent. If there was more than one person responding to survey questions, the field representative was instructed to select the person number of the person the field representative thought to be the "main" respondent.

Comparability

In the original NHIS data for 2010, all cases but 3 are marked as being the family respondent; this instead notes valid respondents rather than the appointed family respondent. Other than 2010 which does not indicate the family respondent, there are no comparability issues.
