Description

For persons who have lost all of their teeth (NOTEETH), FALSTTH indicates whether or not the person has false teeth.

FALSTTH is part of the Dental Care Supplement and is first available in 1971. FALSTYPE records type of false teeth that a person uses. In 1989, separate questions on the use of upper and lower dentures were asked of persons who had lost their upper or lower permanent teeth (see FALSTTHUP and FALSTTHLOW). For additional related variables and more information about this supplement, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus.
