Description

For sample adults who had participated in skiing in the past 2 weeks (EXUNSKI), EXUNSKIBR reports whether respondents usually experienced a small, moderate, or large increase, or no increase at all in their heart rate or breathing while skiing.

After determining that a respondent participated in aerobics or aerobic dancing, respondents were first asked, "How many times in the past 2 weeks did you go skiing?" (EXUNSKINO). They were then asked, "On the average, about how many minutes did you spend skiing each time?" (EXUNSKIMIN). Finally, to obtain information for EXUNSKIBR, respondents were asked, "What usually happened to your heart rate or breathing when you ski? Did you have a small, moderate, or large increase, or no increase at all in your heart rate or breathing?"
