Description

For sample adults who had participated in skating in the past 2 weeks (EXSKATE), EXSKATEBR reports whether respondents usually experienced a small, moderate, or large increase, or no increase at all in their heart rate or breathing while skating.

After determining that a respondent participated in aerobics or aerobic dancing, respondents were first asked, "How many times in the past 2 weeks did you skate?" (EXSKATENO). They were then asked, "On the average, about how many minutes did you spend skating each time?" (EXSKATEMIN). Finally, to obtain information for EXSKATEBR, respondents were asked, "What usually happened to your heart rate or breathing when you go skating? Did you have a small, moderate, or large increase, or no increase at all in your heart rate or breathing?"
