Description

For sample adults who had participated in hiking in the past 2 weeks (EXHIKE), EXHIKEBR reports whether respondents usually experienced a small, moderate, or large increase, or no increase at all in their heart rate or breathing while hiking.

After determining that a respondent participated in hiking, respondents were first asked, "How many times in the past 2 weeks did you go golfing?" (EXHIKENO). They were then asked, "On the average, about how many minutes did you spend golfing each time?" (EXHIKEMIN). Finally, to obtain information for EXHIKEBR, respondents were asked, "What usually happened to your heart rate or breathing when you golf? Did you have a small, moderate, or large increase, or no increase at all in your heart rate or breathing?"
