Description

For sample adults who had participated in cross-country skiing in the past 2 weeks (EXCCSKI), EXCCSKIBR reports whether respondents usually experienced a small, moderate, or large increase, or no increase at all in their heart rate or breathing while cross-country skiing.

After determining that a respondent participated in cross-country skiing, respondents were first asked, "How many times in the past 2 weeks did you go cross-country skiing?" (EXCCSKINO). They were then asked, "On the average, about how many minutes did you spend cross-country skiing?" (EXCCSKIMIN). Finally, to obtain information for EXCCSKIBR, respondents were asked, "What usually happened to your heart rate or breathing when you went cross-country skiing? Did you have a small, moderate, or large increase, or no increase at all in your heart rate or breathing?"
