Description

For female sample adults aged 40 to 60, ESTROTALK reports if a doctor or other health care professional has ever discussed with the person about the pros and cons of taking estrogen pills after menopause. Please refer to the universe tab for more detailed information on changes in survey design of this variable.

Comparability

Changes in survey design (e.g., quarters in which the supplement was collected) may affect raw frequencies, but do not affect comparability of the variable. As always, data users should use the prescribed IPUMS NHIS weights.

Universe

  • 1994: Half of female sample persons age 40 to 60 (excluded from AIDS supplement).
  • 1998: Female sample adults age 40 to 60.
