Description

For female sample adults aged 40 and older in 1987 and, female sample adults aged 18 and older and who have ever taken estrogen and gave a valid response to whether they were taking estrogen in 1999, ESTROGTP reports a type of time unit associated with a numerical value (ESTROGNO) that indicates the person's duration of taking estrogen. Respondents were instructed to include any breaks in estrogen usage that lasted less than 30 days.

Comparability

Changes in survey design (e.g., quarters in which the supplement was collected) may affect raw frequencies, but do not affect comparability of the variable. As always, data users should use the prescribed IPUMS NHIS weights.
