Codes and Frequencies
Description
For sample persons ages 40 and over who have heard of a digital rectal exam and who have had a digital rectal exam in the past three years because of a health problem, DRXLYBLD reports if the health problem was bleeding.
Comparability
Aside from a minor change in universe, there are no comparability issues with this variable. Changes in survey design (e.g., quarters in which the supplement was collected) may affect raw frequencies, but do not affect comparability of the variable. As always, data users should use the prescribed IPUMS NHIS weights.
