Description

For sample adults who had used a special diet during the past 12 months (DITATKINYR, DITMACYR, DITORNYR, DITPRITYR, DITSBYR, DITVEGYR, or DITZONYR) and who had used the special diet for a specific health problem (DITTREAT), DITNOCONV identifies those who had received no conventional medical treatment for the condition for which they most used the special diet (DITTCONMOST).

The survey question for DITNOCONV collected information about the use of specific conventional medical treatments for the condition for which the special diet was used the most, if the person had received conventional medical treatment. The specific treatments asked about were:

• Mental health counseling (DITCOUN)

• Prescription medications (DITPMED)

• Over-the-counter medications (DITNPMED)

• Physical therapy (DITPT)

• Surgery (DITSURG)

Interviewers asked, "Did you receive any of these conventional medical treatments for [condition for which the special diet was used the most]?" and entered all treatments reported by the respondent.
