Description

For sample adults and sample children in 2007 who had used at least one special diet (see below) during the past 12 months, DITNO reports how many of the 7 specified special diets the sample person had used during the past 12 months.

Interviewers asked whether sample adults and sample children had used any of the following special diets for at least 2 weeks for health reasons during the past year:

• Atkins (DITATKINYR)

• Macrobiotic (DITMACYR)

• Ornish (DITORNYR)

• Pritikin (DITPRITYR)

• South Beach (DITSBYR)

• Vegetarian (DITVEGYR)

• Zone (DITZONYR)

DITNO is a summary variable that reports a sample person's number of "Yes" responses (ranging from 1 to 7) to the above special diet variables.
