Description

For persons ages 18 and older who have diabetes, DIASMOKENOW indicates whether the person smoked at the time of the survey.

This variable was included in the 1989 Diabetes supplement and is complementary to SMOKENOW, which in 1989 was asked of sample adults who did not have diabetes. For related variables, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus.
