Description

For sample adults with diabetes who now take insulin by shot or pump (INSULIN), DIAINSLSTOP reports if the person has ever stopped taking insulin for more than six months after they started taking insulin.

This variable is part of the Sample Adult Diabetes supplement, sponsored by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) and National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP).

Comparability

Aside from comparability challenges introduced with the 2019 redesign, this variable is comparable over time. Questionnaire design changes introduced in 2019 limit comparability with earlier years. The NHIS questionnaire was substantially redesigned in 2019 to introduce a different data collection structure and new content.
