Description

For sample children under age 6, DAYCARE6 reports answers to the question, "During the past 12 months, did [child] ever receive child care in a place that cares for more than 6 children? This includes day care centers, preschool, nursery school, religious school, kindergarten, but does not include child care provided in this home."

For sample children with an affirmative response in DAYCARE6MO, respondents were asked, "In how many of the past 12 months did [child] receive such child care?" (DAYCAREMO).

These questions were part of Conditions section of the 1998 sample child "Prevention Module Supplement." According to the 1998 Field Representative's Manual, the prevention modules were designed to track progress toward Year 2000 Objectives, a series of specific and quantifiable 10-year health objectives set forward by the Department of Health and Human Services in 1990.
