Description

For sample adults who do not have social distancing measures currently in effect at their main job or business or refused or don't know (CVDCURJOBSD), CVDWCLOFT indicates how often they need to work closer than 6 feet to other people at their current main job or business.

NCHS added nearly 30 questions related to COVID starting in quarter 3 of the 2020 NHIS questionnaire, eight of which are asked of both sample adults and sample children. For the full list of variables, as well as information about COVID-related changes to the NHIS, please see the user note.

Analysts will need to adjust the sampling weights to account for the limited collection period and sample changes in 2020. For an example of how to do this, including sample code, please see the sampling weight adjustment section of the Variance Estimation User Note.

Comparability

Other than changes to the universe, there are no comparability issues.

Universe

  • 2020: Sample adults age 18+ interviewed in quarter 3 or 4 who do not have social distancing measures currently in effect at their main job or business or refused or don't know (CVDCURJOBSD).
  • 2021: Sample adults age 18+ who do not have social distancing measure currently in effect at their main job or business, or refused or don't know (CVDCURJOBSD).
