Description

For all sample persons, CVDEVER indicates if they have ever been told by a health professional that they had or likely had coronavirus (COVID-19); OR if they had ever tested positive for COVID-19 through a COVID-19 test (antibodies test, blood test, nasal swabbing test, throat swabbing test); OR if they had COVID-19 symptoms after close contact with someone who had COVID-19.

In 2023, questions about Long COVID were sponsored by the CDC's National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (NCEZID). These questions allow researchers to study disparities by other variables already included on the NHIS (e.g., age, race/ethnicity, etc.). They also assist researchers in monitoring the prevalence of Long COVID in the population.
